She has worked in hospital and private practice settings, with individuals and groups, and on college and high school campuses.  She has worked with diverse individuals at all ages and stages to help them utilize the healing power of food to improve their health and their lives.

Julie originally studied nutrition at The University of Northern Colorado and completed her dietetic internship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. She also graduated from and is board certified by the Integrative and Functional Nutrition Academy. In addition she completed two esteemed Food As Medicine trainings through The Center For Mind-Body Medicine.

With this up to date, evidence-based, state of the art education Julie has found a additional meaning for the way she has always looked at “food as medicine”.

For years she has studied and integrated the psychology of eating into her work and has loved treating her patients with a keen understanding of psychological, spiritual and emotional aspects of our relationship to food and our bodies.  After decades of working with a strong psychological approach she recognized that her love of the science of nutrition was calling her back and she engaged deeply in Functional and Integrative Nutrition training.

  A BIT MORE ABOUT JULIE…

I am a Colorado gal at heart but I have lived in Santa Barbara for about 35 years where I have raised my kids, made and nurtured wonderful friendships and participated as a community member. When not in Santa Barbara I am often out camping , hiking or cycling in many beautiful areas in California, Arizona, Pacific Northwest, Utah or Colorado. Some of the things I enjoy include family time,  yoga, hiking, cycling, gardening, farmers markets, cooking, and maintaining rituals with family and friends. Something most people don’t know about me is that I lost my hearing entirely following a 30 year battle with Meniere’s Disease. In 2024 I had a successful cochlear implantation surgery and I live a meaningful and well connected life in both the hearing and D/deaf worlds. My newest interests/endeavors are learning American Sign Language, and singing in a community song circle.

I work remotely from home and occasionally from my campervan while on the road and I look forward to meeting you!
